The month of spooks has finally arrived! As the weather gets colder, and we prepare our spirits for the shenanigans of Halloween…. we at ARGC set forth to release our first annual (would have been the second annual, but toddlers require a lot of attention!) Halloween ARG! The purpose of this game (aside from being a game you can play) is to showcase creative uses of various technologies, that you’ll be able to learn how to harness for your own endeavors, once the game has concluded (November 1, 2023).
What you’ll need to play
Now that we’re on the topic… Let’s talk about a few of the things you’ll need to participate fully in the game. If playing ABYSSE is something you’re interested in, make sure you have all of these:
- Twitter Account
- Discord Account
- Twitch Account
- Email Account
- Youtube Account
Timeline
Keep in mind, ABYSSE is timed. Regardless of activity, decisions, etc… The game concludes on November 1, 2023. This deadline is very strict, as when the game finishes, we’ll start releasing the associated guides.
To keep track of the timing and conclude at the specified time, we’ll release ABYSSE as chapters, for lack of better terms. But these chapters can occur simultaneously if the previous chapter wasn’t solved prior to release schedule. This means that if the final chapter starts while the first chapter is being solved…
Things may not go well in the game’s universe…
The trailhead will be released on our Twitter at an undisclosed time, during the first two days of October. From there, any and all interactions with In-Game elements will be treated as such.
More Information
While the trailhead will release on our Twitter… our Twitter will still be functioning as normal, and not an In-Game resource. We will not provide any In-Game information beyond the trailhead on the ARGC Twitter. And vice versa, we will not provide any out-of-game information from any In-Game elements. The ARGC website (here) will not be a part of the game. While we would love to have you visiting ARGC, this should be made clear in advance. Surfing the ARGC site is not a requirement to play.
ABYSSE is designed as an early/beginner skill level ARG, that can be solved both in groups and as a determined individual. While it’s encouraged to find friends to play with, it’s not necessary. The scope of this game is a fun way to introduce creators to puzzle technologies and creative examples. This will not be a hard game, by any means.
We’ll see you out there, good luck!
